  • Amnesty International UK Human Rights Action Centre 17-25 New Inn Yard London EC2A 3E (map)

Welcome Cinema + Kitchen Present an evening in collaboration with Women For Refugee Women

Actor and supporter Romola Garai will introduce a screening of SUFFRAGETTE. In early 20th-century Britain, the growing suffragette movement forever changes the life of working wife and mother Maud Watts (Carey Mulligan). Galvanized by political activist Emmeline Pankhurst (Meryl Streep), Watts joins a group of women who fight for equality and the right to vote.

‘Forthright, heartfelt, red-blooded drama about the suffragette movement’ The Guardian

The film is followed by our delicious, world-food supper club prepared by Welcome Kitchen! A group of friends from North London, refugees and exceptionally talented chefs from across Africa and Asia.

Director Sarah Gavron (SUFFRAGETTE, BRICK LANE), Women for Refugee Women, and special guests will join us for a panel discussion.
